NITs, IIITs and BIT (Ranchi) give admissions on the basis of a student's performance in the JEE Main. Admissions to these Institutes will be purely on the basis of JEE Main Ranks. All India rank for NITs, IIITs and BIT (Ranchi) will be given separately.
Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) from 2019.
As per JEE Main 2023 pattern declared by NTA, the National level exam will be conducted twice a year (January and April) in ONLINE (computer based) mode. Candidates can appear in either of the two or both
JEE Main is conducted for Engineering (Paper 1 – B.E./ B.Tech.) and Architecture (Paper 2 – B.Arch./ B.Planning) streams. (Top 2.5 lakh rank holders in JEE Main are eligible to appear for next phase i.e. JEE Advanced, offering admissions to UG programs by IITs.)
Engineering aspirants will appear for only Paper 1 which comprises of 20 MCQ type of questions & 10 questions with answers as numerical value in Physics, Chemistry and Maths each. Out of 10 numerical value questions, students need to attempt any 5 questions, in each subject. The duration of the exam will be 180 Minutes. JEE Main will be 300 Marks exam wherein each question carries 4 marks and for every incorrect attempt, 1 mark will be deducted.
